What are the New Contactless Transaction Limits per country?

As part of the exceptional measures required to deter the spread of the Coronavirus (COVD-19), some governments have decided to increase  the cumulative limit for contactless payments with a debit card.  

Below you will find the outlined increases for the applicable countries and the dates the increase changes will come into effect: 

23.03.2020:  

  • Eurozone coutnries: The limit for contactless payments with a debit cardincreased  to 50
  • Turkey: The limit for contactless payments with a debit cardfrom 120TRY to 250TRY 
  • Poland: The limit for contactless payments with a debit card increased from 50PLN to 100PLN 
  • Romania: The limit for contactless payments with a debit card increased from100 RON to 240 RON

From 1.4.2020: 

  • United Kingdom: The limit for contactless payments with a debit card will be increased from £30 to £45 

All of Viva Wallet Terminals are contactless and we have already started upgrading them to accept the higher limit. The upgrade will be live within the following days.
